Help!

I'm helping a friend of mine sub a few episode of her anime. and NO, I'm not doing any translation since my Japanese very bad. huhu Just some hard subbing.

Anybody knows where I can find a good tutorial on encoding using VirtualDub? My friend is teaching me how time and typesetting...(which I'm still confuse)..but I'd like to learn how to encode videos as well. I've tried watching a few tutorials on YouTube..but is pretty confusing since it encoding invloves a lot of numbers and clicking and with the video quality at YT..I can't see a thing! So...help?
